Summer Holiday Inspiration

In the dreary winter days, what better thing is there to take your inspiration from than thoughts of warmer climates and sun soaked holidays?

Last year’s box office hit Mamma Mia! not only had us all unashamedly singing along to the Abba classics, but dreaming of life on a Greek Island with whitewashed walls, crisp white bed linen and floaty voiles at the windows in front of the bright painted wooden shutters.

Whilst searching for your perfect 2009 summer holiday, why not keep an eye out for inspiration for your own seaside chic?

Katrina Burroughs of The Times newspaper suggests a good place to start to recreate the look in your own home is with white furniture. The addition of striped blue-and-white accessories such as table linen and cushion covers, tea light candles and white-painted floors will help complete the look.

The simple lines and straightforwardness of our New England Style furniture is more akin to immaculately maintained clapperboard rather than wind-whipped beach hut. Fill a pure white dresser with blue and white enamel mugs, bread bins, biscuit tins, trays and matching tea, coffee and sugar caddies.

Living life in a permanent reminder of a relaxing holiday seem like a fine idea to me!!
