Original Paintings by Glen Smith

Glen Smith was born in 1966, and grew up in Mid-Sussex. He now lives near Chichester.

Glen is a self-taught artist and trained graphic designer. The inspiration for his paintings is drawn from the natural landscape:  wide open spaces, coastal views, river estuaries and moorland scenes.

Initially Glen was inspired by scenes in Sussex and Devon; his latest work draws inspiration from a holiday in Venice.  The locations in his paintings often hold strong personal memories, and the resulting works may evoke a similar emotional response in the viewer.

Glen’s eye for detail, distinctive style and use of colour makes his works visually exciting. Many of his works reflect a strong photographic quality. The collection includes sketches, watercolours and by far his most preferred medium, acrylic paints. Glen uses a number of techniques to gain the desired effect including washes and palette knife to add texture.
