'Romantic Style' Interior Design Inspiration

“If you love elegant furniture and soft colours, and you’d rather fill your home with flowers and candlelight than cutting-edge technology, then you’ll adore Romantic Style.”

So begins the synopsis of Selina Lake and Sara Norrman’s beautiful Interior Decoration Book. With beautiful photography by Debi Treloar, the book is set out in three sections. Romantic Inspirations explores Simple, Vintage, Elegant and Modern Romantic Styles helping you to find the style that really works for you. Romantic Styling outlines the main aspects of a romantic interior design scheme, providing advice about colours, lighting, flowers, fabrics and how to display your precious objects. Romantic Rooms takes you on a room-by-room tour, using exquisite photography to illustrate just how easy it is to create a Romantic Scheme in your own home.

My favourite section is the ‘Simple Romantic‘ look. Whilst the thought of Romantic Style may conjure up images of frilly pink fabric, it really needn’t be so!!! Simple lines, pale colours and subtle accents can also be romantic. The use of simple white walls and floors, and white furniture can provide the perfect backdrop – then use carefully chosen fabrics and accessories to create the mood. French Style Furniture such as our Louis Range of White Painted Bedroom Furniture immediately conjure up a sense of Romance! A carefully chosen mirror such as the beautifully carved Augusta White Wall Mirror is another way to create instant romance.

Simple really doesn’t mean boring. The idea of romance encompasses shapes and textures, candlelight and softness. Concentrate on soft edges rather than harsh lines. Romantic Style is an excellent way to combine the old with the new. Think how to display treasured old pictures and photographs in elegant white frames, and using classic fabric designs for curtains, cushions and bedding. Romance isn’t just pink, a Romantic Room can be all white with an accent in any colour you choose – be it soft blues, natural greens or metallic touches.
