Bookcases come in all shapes and sizes, there are tall ones, slim ones, fat ones and everyday sizes ones.
There are bookcases that are used for everything else other than books, and there are those bookcases that are crammed so full of books they look like they will burst!
Our bookcases we have on offer are ever-popular. Our bookcase designs are exclusive to New England Lifestyle, simply put, you will not find these wooden bookcases anywhere else!
So without further a do, let me introduce you to the first part of wooden bookcase home furnishing ideas.
The Wide Bookcase - The Westport
The Westport Bookcase is vertically challenged, but offers a great deal of book storage via its wide nature.
Its short design makes this bookcase ideal for a child and is perfect in a childs bedroom; there will be no problem storing the complete Mr Men collection for your little soldier, or for little princesses the Little Miss collection will feel completely at home in this unit.
Featuring two drawers at the the top of the unit, the Westport is practical as well as attractive. The Westport bookcase is now also available in blue as well as our traditional painted white finish.
For further information on The Westport Bookcase see our dedicated product page on the main New England Lifestyle site.

I have been thinking about creative uses for bookcases lately now that I am graduated and soon moving into an apartment. Most renters cannot hang pictures or window treatments because it will put holes in the walls. Because I am an interior designer, I just can’t live with bare walls or windows. My idea is to use tall narrow bookcases on either side of the window to hang the curtain rod in between. There are so many uses for bookcases other than to store books!

Hi Rachel,
You raise a really good point with damage to rented property and the use of bookcases for display to negate the need for drilling etc; I especially liked your idea with the curtain rod.
Unfortunately we do not have a slim tall bookcase, the New Hampshire Bookcase would be the most appropriate for your idea
