Here at New England Lifestyle we have been closely following the development of Good Harbour House, a stunning Norwegian home that has been renovated by one of our customers to create a striking sanctuary that is available to rent all year round.

Good Harbour House is a very relaxing holiday home which comfortably accommodates seven people. Built in the nineteenth century, the house has recently been renovated to a very high standard and turned into a real Norwegian Retreat. With stunning views over the North Sea, the house has ample living space to enjoy the light and airy Norwegian summers, or in which to stay warm and snug in the winter months.

Good Harbour House is situated in the small hamlet of Vikra, at the south-western tip of the Norwegian island of Karmoy, just north of the slightly larger hamlet of Sandve and its fabulous beach Sandvesanden. The island has plenty to offer including The Viking Village at Avaldsnes, or strolling around the streets of Haugesund. The first week in July sees the Skudefestivalen, the largest gathering of coastal culture in Western Norway with boats of all categories: old wooden boats, vintage boats, modern boats, sailing boats and tall ships. Mid August sees the International Sildajazz festival, a five day event offering jazz and art exhibitions, one of the largest ever street parades and around 180 jazz concerts and events; whilst the end of August welcomes the Norwegian International Film Festival Haugesund.

Paul and Nicola Brooks have created two award winning luxurious self catering barns near Rock, Cornwall providing a perfect base for a relaxing holiday.

At Bryally Barns there are a choice of two barns to choose from to suit your needs; or book both barns for an unforgettable getaway with friends.

Lavender Barn, pictured right, has three bedrooms to accommodate 5 people. The New England Style interior has a distinctive coastal feel; combing solid oak flooring with white furniture, white linens and nautical striped fabrics.

Cider Barn is a luxurious romantic hideaway for two, featuring stylish and contemporary furnishings through out.

Bryally Barns can be found in an idyllic location, perfectly placed for an escape to the coast and countryside. They are located only a few minutes away from the surf at Polzeath, the vast sandy beaches at Daymar Bay and all the water sports at Rock. From the Barns take stroll along the country lanes and enjoy a bite to eat at one of several local pubs, enjoying the heady scents of wildfowers and spotting wildlife along the way.

Rhode Island Dresser Base

New Hampshire Desk

Our white Rhode Island Dresser Base is used in the dining area for additional storage. The white sideboard looks great against against the darker walls with the artwork above.  The choice of dining table cleverly blends the shades of light and dark together, and the white upholstered chairs add a softness to the room. The white sideboard is home to a simple white table lamp, and we love Gregory’s white painted birdcage.

Our white New Hampshire Desk, combined with the white upholstered chair gives the office area a very relaxed, informal feel. The white furnishings against the earthy colours on the wall and stylish choice of floorings give this room a real wow factor.

New England Bedroom

Newport Coffee Table

The use of the darker colours on the walls with our New England Flag, and neutral coloured rug give Gregory’s son’s bedroom a masculine edge. By choosing the New England Bed, Gregory has ensured that the room can easily be adapted to his son’s changing tastes as he grows up.

The large rug with the white cabin bed and our white Newport Coffee Table creates a very cosy area in which to relax and unwind, and usefully doubles up as space for guests to sleep when they come to stay.

Manhattan Headboard

The Master Bedroom is a stylish combination of white furniture and warm earthy tones added through the wall colours and soft furnishings. We love the french doors leading our onto the balcony with the clean white balustrades. The Manhattan White Headboard adds elements of New England Style, accentuated by the classic bedding.

When Belgian based interior designer Gregory Lens contacted us back in November, we were very pleased to be able to help. Gregory was in the process of renovating a property in Brasschaat, Belgium, and had chosen a selection of our products for various rooms in his new home, which he was refurbishing in the New England Style. Being so far away Gregory was unable to visit our showroom in West Sussex, but through the exchange of various emails – including photographs of rooms so that we could help with the decision making process – his requirements were finalised, and our delivery driver Phil Welch delivered to his new Belgian home in mid December.

We think Gregory’s home is trully beautiful! He has mixed our furniture with pieces from other suppliers, and purchased additional knobs from us to ensure all his furniture blends together.
