Having grown up in the countryside I was lucky enough to experience an old fashioned country kitchen breakfast room. I was staying with my grandparents during the summer and they had a lovely little breakfast table with four chairs where we would all sit together and eat in the morning.

New England Furniture

The kitchen table would always be laden with brekkie goodies such as boiled eggs and hot buttered soldiers for dipping, or on other days with a toast rack full of hot brown toast, ready for some home-made marmalade or home-made jam which always went down with a lovely cup of tea made from the pot (my nan would have knitted the tea-cosy too!)

It was actually quite surprising how much we used to fit on that little table. Breakfast wasn’t the only meal we all enjoyed together because at lunchtime we would all re-congregate after my Brother and I had spent most of the morning either playing in the orchard, helping grandad in the garden with his vegetable patch or collecting strawberries for nanny.

By lunchtime we were all so hungry and had worked up a real appetite and our favorite lunch was always ready for us on the table. We would have Crusty french bread warmed from the oven in a bread basket and a bowl of steaming homemade soup, which was often followed by a country pate or a large pork pie.

Now those days are long gone and modern living and growing up has changed the way we eat so much so that it is very rare, not just for me but i suppose most families to be able to sit down all together and enjoy eating as a family event. But if I had a house that could accommodate it I would love to be able to do that for my Children and Grandchildren.

New England Furniture such as the Burlington Dining Table or the Cape Cod Round Dining Table (Which also is available with an oak top) would be ideal for the kitchen/ breakfast room and at the moment both of these Tables have a fabulous 15% off!

I still think of those precious times, and my brother and I will always remember that our Grandparents taught us how eating breakfast and sitting down together in the kitchen brought us all closer together as a family.

About 14 Years ago Nick Burrin designed a New England style house on the beach in West Sussex. Inspired by his love for everything about New England- The wooden clad houses and the beaches – Nick named his house New England.

The New England House, West Sussex

Once Nick had completed all of the building work and interior decoration he searched around for the perfect furniture to compliment the seaside setting, but no matter where Nick looked he could not find the white furniture that he had his heart set on, so Nick designed his own furniture with the tongue and groove detail that he loved. When coming to sell the house a year later Nick found that everyone who came to view it wanted to buy the furniture, and realised that a company selling white furniture could be a good idea, and so New England Lifestyle was born.

And what a fantastic idea it was because even now years later, the white furniture has proved to be more popular than ever! We even have phonecalls from people hundreds of miles away enquiring whether we have any more showrooms nearer to them because they love the furniture so much and want to see it for themselves. New England Lifestyle currently have just one Showroom here in Ford,West Sussex.

Nick is now a successful business owner, a published writer of The Book ‘So Daisys Really Are Made In Heaven‘ and soon to be published-His New Book ‘Beyond all doubt is Jerusalem really the Golden City’ and he is the website designer of Midnight2Dawn.com-an inspirational website dedicated to moments and excerpts that are awesome and moving.

On average a person needs about eight hours of sleep a night, we spend approximately a third of our lives sleeping! Studies have actually shown that if we are not getting enough sleep then our bodies are more likely to not function properly. Taking all of the fact’s into consideration, you realise we spend more time in the bedroom than anywhere else in the home! There are so many good reasons to create a calm and relaxing space for you to come home to after a hard days work, or even just a place to escape to, and forget the days troubles by having a good long sleep.

The New England Bed is exactly what you need to add a touch of luxury to your sleeping space, With fluted detailing the New England white wooden bed frame is designed with a tongue and groove headboard and foot board, making the bed an elegant and practical design. The New England Bed complements both the Manhattan and Maine Ranges of New England Lifestyles White Bedroom Furniture, with Wardrobes, Bookcases and Chests Of Drawers to suit all of your storage space requirements. All of the Furniture is so simply designed that it enhances any style of decor or room space, creating a light, airy and relaxing atmosphere.

The mood of a room is one of the most vital things you must capture when decorating any room in the home, and the bedroom probably most of all because it is the one place we go to fully unwind from the day. White furniture is so versatile and creates a crisp feel to a space, with so many different colour’s available that you can choose from to decorate your bedroom these days from luxuriant and rich dark plums and velvety reds, to cool and relaxing lavenders and blues or calming pastels like pale greens and pinks, you have a wonderful range of moods to choose from to give your bedroom the atmosphere you want, and don’t forget that the colour choice that you pick will reflect it.

The White furniture fits so well with everything that there’s no need to replace it when you decide to redecorate and have a change! All of the furniture is very solid, robust and is really well built to stand the test of time. Conveniently, none of New England Lifestyles furniture is flat-packed so it arrives all ready assembled and able to use straight away! So if you want to banish those bedroom nightmares come along to the Showroom and you can see the furniture on display at New England Lifestyle, Ford Lane in Arundel, West Sussex or alternatively you can visit our website www.newenglandlifestyle.com

Just over a week ago my partner and I moved into our new home, a little two bedroom characterful cottage with oodles of charm and lots of opportunity for us to add our own personal touches. The whole process seems to have taken a very long time, and the prospect of moving from a ground floor one bedroom flat to a property with stairs was all just a little too exciting!

Moving day finally arrived, the sun was shining and all is well. My precious Manhattan Double Wardrobe (the very first piece of white bedroom furniture I purchased from New England Lifestyle) was very carefully carried out of the removal van, in through the front door, and then disaster struck… it just would not go up the stairs!!!!

How many times have I said to people “Have you measured your stairs to check for access?” And what was the one thing I didn’t do?!!!!

Thankfully the solution was simple. My once very precious Manhattan Double Wardrobe now has a happy new home in a friend’s house, and we are the very proud owners of a Manhattan Double Wardrobe with Drawers. How strange it is that moving into a little cottage with limited access has led to us being able to have the really big white wardrobe!!! My new wardrobe was delivered in four pieces, and there were no problems at all in manoeuvring the pieces round the corners and up the stairs.

And – to be totally honest – I was never that much of a fan of the Manhattan Double Wardrobe with Drawers. But as soon as I started to fill it up with clothes, I was instantly converted. It really does hold an amazing amount!!!! The dimensions are absolutely perfect for our room; the white wardrobe fits snugly into the recess next to the chimney breast.

At the other side we have our Manhattan Tall Chest, and the room is starting to take shape.

In a couple of weeks we will have the time to paint all the walls white, and then we can start adding a few new accessories, we can’t wait!!!

If you are thinking of upgrading your furniture and wondering how to dispose of the old in an effective way, then you might like to know about The Furniture Re-use Network’.

The Furniture Re-use Network is a network of furniture recycling projects around the UK. The local groups set about taking in any unwanted furniture and household items and doing something constructive with them.

Uses for old furniture includes passing it onto community groups, offering the furniture to low-income families and any other groups in need.

With the worrying statistic that as many as four million children live in households that cannot afford to replace broken or worn out furniture, it may be that your old furniture will make someone’s life a lot easier.

Replacing old furniture is a real buzz; it is such a good feeling to know your household makeover will be complimented with a purge on new furniture and your styling ideas will be complete. But imagine the extra fulfilment you would get if you know your old furniture was not simply going to end up at the local tip.

Your old furniture may do some real good in a low-income home, a elderly persons home or to a community group.

If you are considering purchasing new furniture for your home or office athis time and have old furniture to dispose of then don’t just throw it away, see if The Furniture Re-use Network’ can help distribute the old furniture to somewhere whereit may do some good.

For more information on this excellent service visit The Furniture Re-use Network:
