Seaside Style

Posted by Steph, on June 9th, 2007, under Lifestyle, RSS

Flicking through the July Issue of Coast Magazine makes me think just how fortunate we all are at New England Lifestyle’s Head Office. That is because we all live by the beach, and can get our fix of sun, sea and sand at a moment’s notice.

Coast Magazine is full of fantastic ideas not only for the beach, but to bring the seaside feel into your own back garden. They feature a selection of affordable brightly coloured deckchairs from Habitat and Southsea Deckchairs, eye-catching zesty coloured hammocks from John Lewis, and stylish windbreaks  from The Seaside Company. Inspiration indeed for those crucial accessories to make the most of the summer months in comfort!

New England Design

Posted by Laura, on June 9th, 2007, under Lifestyle, RSS

Whilst glancing through the glossy pages of April’s issue of Homes & Gardens, it becomes abundantly clear how much more popular the New England interior style is becoming. Although my passion for the simplicity and elegance of white has been with me for many many years, it really has now become more promenant within designs. The diversity in which salt-box look can be changed for different situations, is phenomenal. If a room is set with core pieces such as the Rhode Island Dining Table, and the Burlington Dresser, which give a variety of height and depth to a room, these can provide a lovely canvas for any event. Simply add a few of our New England Sailing Boats, in a range of sizes, or perhaps add a splash of colour with our set of four Beach Hut Boxes, to contrast and compliment the white. Or for a more formal occassion, simply dim your lighting and add a few of our Woodstock Candlesticks, which conveniently come in a pair. The candle-light reflects beautifully off the white surfaces, giving them a warm glow, and smooth sheen. But to truly enjoy and appreciate your New England style interior you must have the passion to imagine, and create. As Jean Anouilh famously said “Things are beautiful if you love them”.

Why Cream Furniture?

Posted by Laura, on June 6th, 2007, under New England News, RSS

After all this time being white white white it certainly makes a change, even if it is just a subtle one! A cream bedside table sits in front of me in our beautiful showroom next to a cream chest of drawers, and I like it.  As with white furniture the amount of natural light, time of day, even time of year makes a huge difference to how all my white furniture looked; now the same with the new cream bedroom furniture .  It had never seemed an issue to me filling my house with a complete and full range of New England Lifestyle furniture in white but now I have a great opportunity to buy at least one full set of Manhattan cream furniture.  Just as well our planning permission has been granted for 2 new bedrooms, Cream here we come.  Will write next week when the blue arrives, just how much excitment can one girl take. I clearly should get out more! Steph said can I take my anorak when I go!
