The versatility of white furniture

One of the big attractions of white furniture has to be its versatility. Use white to create a timeless, neutral backdrop and then let your own colourful personality shine through!

The room pictured right is a great example of just how to do this. The blank canvas of white painted walls and white flooring provides the simplest of backdrops. The stripey blue floor covering adds interest; especially when combined with the dark denim look sofa. The window coverings are kept light and white with just a hint of blue accent colour to keep the room tied together.

An elegant handcarved white mirror hing on the wall, and sophisticated white wing backed armchairs give the room a more mature, grown up style.

The simple white Newport Coffee Table works really well as a sleek centrepiece providing useful space for books, coffee cups and a pretty floral decoration.

Despite the use of what is essentially a really quite dark accent colour, the white base of the room ensures the overall feeling of the interior is one of light airy brightness.

As your taste and mood may alter and you decide to revamp your room, just a few simple tweaks will ensure a complete transformation with very little additional outlay. Change the sofa colour with the addition of a throw and new cushions; change the colour of your rug and perhaps alter the window dressings. A change of pictures on the walls and lampshades – and if you like a new arrangement of your furniture – and the same basic white room will take on a whole new personality.

Get Romantic With Hot Pinks!

Posted by Tasha, on January 23rd, 2011, under Home Makeovers, Lifestyle, RSS

Oh no!  It is almost the most romantic day of the year (St Valentines Day) and you are probably either going to spend it with your beloved one or on your Todd again. Both can leave you wondering what all the fuss is about and wishing the day would just go away, its just another excuse to get us to buy cards, presents and food. If you want to be romantic you can be! And at any time where its spontaneous and not just on 14 February?Enhance a room with a splash of colour

Blasting some fantastic colours into your home can be difficult but with  white New England Furniture it  is a breeze because of opening up a whole load of style ideas from modern to old fashioned and quaint. Hot pinks are a great way to get a contemporary look without being too feminine but sexy enough to create a romantic space within your home, even in the living room you can have a stunning effect against the white furniture, when many people  seem to keep the pinks to bedroom colours only. I think in an all white room,  splashes of pinks are a good choice and can emphasise the modern feel of the white furniture , giving the impression of more space in the room. You could mix and match your effect by choosing bolder prints and colours at one aspect of your lounge or living space, and at another angle choose a more delicate pattern which creates depth and character to a space.

Pinks are an excellent choice because of the many shades to be found. Even the smallest of accessories can give your room a spark of colour reminiscent of spring and summer warmth. Florals and shapes can add interest and you could most certainly bring a little bit of the outdoors inside with you.

New England Lifestyle’s white furniture has something for every room, in  fact no matter what decor you are planning the unique style will fit in with most home styling.  The Newport Coffee Table really does accentuate a white suite, no matter whether classic white fabric or a modern leather look.

The New Hampshire Bookcase is wonderful for displaying your bright accessories, and if your white room is larger and feels as if there is a space which needs to be filled the bookcase is a great piece of furniture  for filling and creating a focal point – you may want to just put your romantic novels in there.  Then again maybe if you are lucky enough on the 14th Feb, display your pink flowers!

Happy Valentines Day and hope to see you soon, shopping for your home!

Stylish Bedrooms at Boskerris Hotel

Boskerris Hotel in St Ives, Cornwall is a contemporary Boutique Hotel perfect for a luxurious escape.

This 15 bedroom hotel comes highly recommended by Mr and Mrs Smith, the Boutique and Luxury Hotel Booking Specialists:

“Boskerris Hotel near St Ives has been around since the 1930s, but it’s only recently become so stylish. The renovation has traded faded seaside charm for some Mediterranean magic, with lots of glass, decking and crisp colours. Luckily, the views have stayed the same: lighthouse-filled sights worthy of featuring in a Virginia Woolf novel – and they did.”

The hotel is perched high on a steeply descending hill, with the fine white sands of Carbis Bay beach only a short stroll away. Standing in 1.5 acres, the hotel occupies a unique position with a decked terrace affording you a a view of the whole of St Ives by from St Ives harbour to Godrevy Lighthouse.

Boskerris Hotel was built as a hotel in 1931, and has always remained in private ownership. The latest owners have made their own exquisite mark on the property which comes most highly recommended as a perfect getaway destination.

Hip Hotels includes Boskerris Hotel as an ideal beach getaway, whilst The Guardian describes it as “The perfect swanky, contemporary pad from which to explore swanky, contemporary St Ives…”

So what are you waiting for? Book a spring break online today at www.boskerrishotel.co.uk or by calling 01736 795295.
