Godrevy Lighthouse, Cornwall

Many people flock  to Cornwall every year to enjoy the expanses of sandy beaches, glistening white surf and the beautiful landscapes.

At New England Lifestyle we can wholeheartedly recommend a visit to Godrevy, an area on the North Coast of West Cornwall within St Ives Bay. Godrevy Head has some of the most stunning coastal heathland in the country, and the majority of the headland is owned by the National Trust and open to the public. Whilst the western side of Godrevy Head is bounded by rocks to the north, a wide sandy beach stretches to the south where surfers are a regular sight.

Looking across the vast sandy beaches, you can catch a glimpse of Godrevy Lighthouse, an operational white lighthouse standing on Godrevy Point, just 300 yards from Godrevy Head. Built in 1858-1859, the lighthouse is a white octagonal tower, 86 feet (26 m) high constructed of rubble-stone and mortar.

If you are looking for a holiday cottage to rent in this area, The Beach House is a great choice. Quietly set back from the sea on Gwithian Towans with stunning views towards Godrevy lighthouse and St Ives, the property is less than 5 minutes walk to the expansive sands. Recently refurbished in the New England Style,  the Beach House is amongst the largest properties on the Towans and sleeps 7 comfortably. The beach is fully lifeguarded in season, dolphins and seals are frequently sighted.
